The owners of a wonderful home in Montpelier, Vermont, were looking for a solution for insulating their basement walls.  They had already gutted their basement and are planning on completely remodeling it.  They gave Matt Clark's Northern Basement a call at 855-DRY-TIME and asked what they could do to help them.  One of Matt's System Specialist suggested using our Basement to Beautiful Wall Panels.  The panels are designed with the unique, advanced SilverGlo™ graphite-infused foam insulation; this insulation provides 24% more energy-saving than conventional foam. At 2 ½" thick and R-13 insulation, Basement To Beautiful™ panels create a warm, protective blanket around your basement that will never rot or support mold growth. To help save the customers money, time, and hassle, electrical chases are designed directly into the Basement To Beautiful™ system. This way, there is no need for you to have an electrician come in to rough in the wiring, then return to complete the job later. It can all be done in one step after the finished panels are installed.  The customers now have warm walls that are ready for their next steps in finishing their basement.

One of our system design specialists visited the home and designed a solution to address Eric concerns and make the foundation secure and the home safe. Basement To Beautiful in Montpelier, Vermont

The customers in Montpelier, Vermont were in the process of remodeling their basement.  They were in search of a solution for their cold walls.  They contacted the experts at Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems at 1-800-DRY-TIME and expressed their needs to one of our System Specialist and Master Carpenters.                                                              After talking to the team at Northern Basements the customer decided to go with Northern Basments' Basement to Beautiful Wall Panels.  The Basement To Beautiful™ panels have been designed with SilverGlo™ insulation -- an expanded polystyrene foam insulation. SilverGlo™ is created with a unique graphite infusion process that improves its insular ability by an incredible 24% over comparable foam insulation products. When finished with a wall paneling, the basement insulation will meet International Code Requirements, with an R-13 insulation rating. Our basement wall insulation is created with inorganic materials so that it will never support the growth of mold, mildew, or rot. There's no wooden studs, drywall, or fiberglass to grow mold. Instead, the system is designed to attach directly to your basement walls. Metal studs are integrated with the foam -- and do not touch the concrete basement walls through the foam. The unique stud design allows Basement To Beautiful™ panels to avoid a major design flaw of traditional studs. Typical stud designs require the insulation layer to be broken at intervals to allow for the studs to be built. At these points, studs made with thermally conductive materials will transfer heat from your home to the cold concrete walls. In the case of Basement To Beautiful™ panels, the studs leave 2" of uninterrupted insulation behind them, so they don't compromise the thermal blanket on your basement walls. The studs will never touch these walls, and this heat transfer never occurs! To save our customer time and hassle, for when they finish remodeling, electrical chases are designed directly into the Basement To Beautiful™ system. This way, there is no need for an electrician to come in to rough in the wiring, then return to complete the job later. It can all be done in one step after the finished panels are installed.

Montpelier, VT Basement Damaged by Hurricane Irene Gets the Right Repairs

Christopher K.’s unfinished basement suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Irene, but he could not afford to immediately deal with the problem. After a long winter in Montpelier made the water leakage problem in his basement worse, Christopher decided that he could not endure a rainy spring or another winter without securing his basement’s permeability. He called in Matt Clark from Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems for a free estimate to fix the space.

As a result of the inspection, Matt concluded that Christopher’s unfinished basement would need protection internally and externally to stay clean and dry. Northern Basements team got started right away. The first step was to expel the water that was currently in the basement. A SuperSump sump pump and discharge line with IceGuard anti-freeze protection would do the trick. Next, the interior of the basement needed to be protected against water seepage and groundwater. CleanSpace drainage matting was installed to collect water that would otherwise be trapped beneath the surface of the CleanSpace liner. The liner also helps to keep the interior bright and – most importantly – dry!

Christopher could not be more pleased with the work done on his home. Dealing with a natural disaster is never easy, but with the right help, it becomes less daunting. Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems was the perfect partner for Christopher, and together they made his basement healthy and usable again!

Leaky Basement Wall Solved with DryTrak Installation in Montpelier, VT

Elizabeth W., a Montpelier, VT homeowner, contacted Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems with a water seepage problem. She was convinced that a wall in the basement was causing the problem, and wanted to have a specialist inspect the area. Waterproofing expert Justin Lanfranconi arrived at Elizabeth’s house soon after, ready for the challenge!

After Justin assessed the damage to Elizabeth’s basement, he told foreman Matt Ostrout his plan to get restore the basement back to health. The plan for repair included installing a DryTrak basement water drainage system, specially designed for monolithic foundations. The patented DryTrak system will capture the water coming down from the wall and the TrenchDrain channel drain would collect pooled water near the basement door. The water from these would be redirected to a SuperSump sump pump. All in all, Elizabeth’s new waterproofing system stops any further damage to her basement by doing what it’s meant to do – keep water out!

Thanks to the experts at Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems, Elizabeth can now enjoy a dry, healthy basement. Whenever a friend or family member has a similar problem, Elizabeth is happy to recommend the Vermont waterproofers.

The rear exposed wall of my garage has cracked and needs to be buttressed to avoid further damage. This is complicated by a heat pump compressor in front of one crack. The crack was caused (I think) by the pad in the garage cracking and compressing the fill underneath. The compressed fill within the foundation is now pushing out the rear exposed wall causing the cracks.
