Barre, Vermont homeowner contacted Northern Basement System after 15 years of her basement flooding. Our system design specialist provided the homeowner with a FREE ESTIMATE and project proposal and then our installation specialist installed the system to keep the basement dry!

Our team installed a partial WaterGuard Drainage System along the wall that had cracks and water seepage. This system is installed along the outer edge of the foundation to collect water before it has the opportunity to enter the basement.

This drainage system was paired with a TripleSafe Sump Pump System to remove the water that is collected by the drainage system. The TripleSafe is our most reliable system with a primary pump, secondary pump, and battery back-up pump to protect the home from water during heavy water flow, power outages, tripped circuits, and dual pump failure. The waterproofing system was then completed with a discharge line, an IceGuard, and LawnScape outlet

This Barre, Vermont homeowner no longer has to worry about getting water in her basement and can use the space for storage and a laundry room.

Job Stories From Barre, VT
Basement Waterproofing in Barre, Vermont, by Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems.

A family in Barre, VT, had been struggling with a damp and musty basement for years. Every time it rained, water would seep through the walls, leaving puddles on the floor and making the space unusable. They had hoped to turn the basement into a playroom for their kids, but the persistent moisture made it impossible. The homeowners reached out to Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems, which is known for its expertise in basement waterproofing. After a thorough inspection, the team recommended installing a perimeter drainage system with a high-capacity sump pump.

Additionally, the walls were treated with a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering the space. Once the system was installed, the family noticed an immediate difference. Their basement remained dry, even during heavy rains, and they could finally move forward with their plans to create a safe and comfortable playroom for their children. The peace of mind knowing their basement was protected from water damage was invaluable.

An Uplifting Solution To A Big Problem in Barre, VT

Christie had a problem. She saw multiple cracks forming in multiple rooms in her house. She wanted to know what could be causing the problem along with finding a viable solution. To find these answers, she reached out to Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems.

Matt Clark’s team of experts found that the soil under part of the house had begun to settle. The soil under any foundation bears a lot of weight. When some of the soil starts to shift and sink, the load above it begins to shift and sink as well. Just like how the settled soil moves away from the more secured soil, the less-supported section of the house moves away from the better-supported section, causing cracks to form. The experts decided to bring that section of the house back up with their push pier leveling system. After locating the side of the house that needed lifting, soil was excavated around the foundation of the house. Once the foundation could be accessed, five brackets were set in place. These brackets held steel rods that were hydraulically pressed through the earth. They pierced through all the weak soil until they reach deep, sturdy layers of earth. Once secured, the weight could be transferred to the foundation and the house could be lifted back to its original position.

Christie found a safe, secure and permanent solution to her big problem. She won’t have to worry about her house shifting due to eroding or settling soil. Matt Clark and his team of experts are very knowledgeable. Give them a no-cost, no-obligation call to see how they can help your problem!

DryTrak: A Simple, Affordable Water Seepage Solution

Kyle was noticing water seepage coming through the base of his foundation. He figured it could lead to a bigger problem so he called up Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems for a free estimate. Once the experts heard the problem, they knew what the solution was.

When the soil on the other side of the basement wall collects water, it builds hydrostatic pressure against the concrete wall and the footing of the basement. Occasionally, water will be able to seep through and enter the basement. So, in Kyle’s case, the best thing to do was to release that pressure and let his sump pump system channel the water safely away from the foundation. To do this, Matt Clark and his experts installed DryTrak. The DryTrak system collects water and channels it right to the sump pump. To relieve the hydrostatic pressure, the experts drilled small weep holes in the foundation that would allow the water to enter to the DryTrak. With a pump in place, it was that easy to fix Kyle’s problem!

Kyle no longer has to worry about water seeping into his basement. The DryTrak system is among the most affordable systems available. It will keep any basement safe and secure.

Backup Pump Installation in Barre, VT

Leo is a smart man. He’s had a sump pump system in place. He knows well the benefits of keeping a basement dry and safe. He contacted Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems because he knew that they offered a backup plan.

The experts at Northern Basement Systems installed an UltraSump battery-operated pumping system. This system acts as a precautious measure in case the household loses power and the primary pump wouldn’t be able to run. The UltraSump pump comes with a charging/control box set with an alarm. It runs on a 120 amp sealed maintenance-free battery. Just like the primary pump, the backup pump will channel the water through a discharge line and safely to the outdoor surface.

Now that Leo has a primary and backup pump he can be sure that his basement will be well-suited for any rainy storm that comes through town, even if it knocks out the power. Contact Matt Clark if you need a primary or backup pump.

Basement Crack Becomes Gateway For Basement Water

Claude started to notice a crack forming along his basement wall. Not too long afterwards, he started to notice water coming in his basement through the crack. He knew he had to take action. After doing some online research, he found Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems. He reached out to the experts and they were more than happy to take a look at the situation.

Upon investigation, Matt Clark and his team of experts knew just what to do; they had seen this problem many times before. As the exterior soil shifts, it puts pressure on the basement wall, causing it to crack. They installed several strips of WaterGuard and a SuperSump pump. These gutter-like WaterGuard strips ran along the base of the wall to collect and channel the water to the pump. From the SuperSump, the water was pumped through a discharge line and disposed to the outdoor surface at a safe distance from the house. This solution keeps the water unseen and the basement dry.

Claude won’t have to worry about water in his basement anymore. He did the right thing by being proactive about the crack in the wall and made the right choice by selecting Matt Clark’s Northern Basement Systems.

Project Location: Barre, VT
Over the last week, after the rain and snow melt from the last two storms that had rain, we noticed on Saturday afternoon that water was coming in our basement. After investigating we saw it had moved though our utility room and damaged a finished space. I believe it is from the foundation, but due to where the water is coming from, and its proximity to our water tank, it is hard to tell. We are hoping to have someone come and look to see if they can determine the source of the leak, and what options for remediation we have. Is this something that would be in a free estimate?
