Matt Clark's Northern Basement System installs Clean Space & Closed-Cell Polyurethane in Stowe, Vermont
Challenge
Tired of cold floors and drafts through-out most of the house, homeowners in Stowe, Vermont called Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems at 855-Dry-Time for a permanent solution. After a free estimate, a plan was set forth to make sure those cold floors will be a thing of the past.
Solution
Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems installed Cleanspace on the entire floor and walls of a 1,100 square foot crawl space. The CleanSapce has a 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with polyester-cord reinforcement. The liner is treated with an antimicrobial finish that protects against mold and mildew growth on or under the CleanSpace® liner.
Underneath the clean space, on the floor, drainage matting was installed with a SmartDrain. The SmartDrain will ensure in the event of any plumbing leaks, any water will drain to the SmartDrain. The SmartDrain is equipped with an alarm to notify the homeowners of any plumbing leaks, right away.
Then the walls and rim joists were sprayed with Closed-Cell Polyurethane. Closed-cell Polyurathane is about 3-4 times as dense as open-cell foam, and it provides an R-value of 6-7 per inch. After spraying the insulation an intumescent paint goes over the foam to meet fire code.
