Finished Basement Getting Water in Barre, Vermont
Challenge
This home began to get water in the finished basement during heavy rain in 2013 and has worsened with each year. The homeowner was concerned about moisture in the home causing mold in addition to other health concerns.
She had a drainage system in the home that was installed years and years ago by another company and the system was no longer working. She wanted to start fresh and find a way to keep the water out and lower the humidity.
Solution
Our team proposed a solution to keep the space dry year-round! Prior to installing the system, the lower portion of the walls and the baseboard heat were removed to gain access to the problem areas.
During installation, our crew jackhammered to access the foundation footing, then installed a full perimeter WaterGuard Drainage system to collect the water outside the foundation before it can seep in through the wall and floor joint.
This system was then paired with a SuperSump Plus to remove the water as it is collected by the perimeter drains. Lastly, this system is complete with a self-draining SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to reduce humidity and filter the air to prevent the growth of mold.
With all of these systems in place, this home and basement are now drier and healthier, year-round! The homeowner was so excited to see the results of the install and how quickly the systems started working! For the first time in years, she's not dreading the wet spring months.
