Walkout Basement Flooding During Winter Thaw in Lyndonville, Vermont
Challenge
Lyndonville home was experiencing flooding in the basement from several locations. The home has a walkout basement and a steep bank along the back wall, forcing all the water from the snowmelt to run toward the home. The homeowners were especially concerned about the damage to the wood framing and items in storage. They were in search of a solution that would protect their home and storage from damage and efficient enough to be powered by solar energy.
Solution
Our System Design Specialist recommended a WaterGuard Drainage System along the back and side walls where the water was entering off the bank. This system is installed just underneath the perimeter edge of the basement floor to collect water before it enters the basement. Due to the existing 2x4 wood framing, our team had to uninstall the majority of the wood to gain access to the foundation and install the WaterGuard. Additionally, the System Design Specialist recommended a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, with no Ultra Sump Battery Back-Up Pump. Because the home is solar powered, the homeowners had little to no concern regarding power outages. This total basement waterproofing system is complete with a discharge line, an IceGuard to protect the home from a frozen discharge line, and a LawnScape Outlet at the end of the discharge.
With this system in place, the home will be protected through every Vermont season, for years to come!
