Wet Family Basement in East Montpelier, Vermont
Challenge
An East Montpelier, Vermont family was struggling with water entering their children's play area and storage space. They couldn't find the source of the water entry or a solution to keep the area dry. A friend recommended Northern Basement Systems! This space was a challenge due to the radiant heat tubing in the foundation floor. Our team provided a FREE ESTIMATE and developed a project proposal to work around the radiant heating system, without damaging the tubing, and still provide a flawless waterproofing system!
Solution
Our team worked carefully alongside a local plumber to keep the radiant floor heating system in the condition that is was found. The tubing was placed just far enough from the wall that our crew was able to jackhammer along the walls as planned. They jackhammered the concrete further from the wall to accommodate the size of the sump pumps, which caused a break in the radiant tubing but they were able to repair the tubing and move it to go around the sump pumps. Next, the specialist placed clean stone along the perimeter walls, placed the WaterGuard System on top, and backfilled with more clean stone. The crew installed TWO sump pumps to ensure that they could keep up with the water around the large perimeter. They installed our most reliable pump, the TripleSafe Sump Pump with a primary pump, a secondary pump, an UltraSump battery back-up pump, and a WaterWatch Alarm. Additionally, they installed a SuperSump Pump to take care of the water on the opposing side of the basement, this pump contains a primary pump and an UltraSump Battery Back-Up Pump to ensure a dry basement even during a power outage, pump failure, or tripped circuit. After the systems were installed they poured concrete to conceal the WaterGuard and area around the pumps giving it a cleaner and more finished look. Lastly, our team installed a discharge line with an IceGuard and LawnScape Outlet on either side of the home, one for each of the pump systems.
