Persistent Water Leaking Into Partially Finished Basement in Rumney, NH

Challenge

A homeowner in Rumney, New Hampshire was experiencing leaking in her basement during periods of heavy rainfall and snow melt. Her basement is partially finished with insulation, drywall, and concrete flooring. The homeowner hired a plumber to attempt to seal the cracks but the sealant cracked and the leaking persisted. The water entry continued to worsen with time and began to seep in around the windows, and in new areas during the spring thaw.

This homeowner was becoming frustrated with the worsening wet basement and damage to the finished portion of the basement. She contacted Matt Clark and his team at Northern Basement Systems to book a FREE estimate with a system design specialists!

Solution

One of our system design specialist provided the homeowner with a FREE estimate and project proposal. Our trained installation specialist then installed the solution. First, they installed a WaterGuard Drainage System along the wall that had water leaking in. They installed the system just underneath the perimeter edge of the basement floor. WaterGuard is the most popular drainage system and offers great protection from a wet basement and won't clog with mud. Additionally, they installed our most reliable pump, the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system provides three levels of protection, a Primary Pump, a Secondary Pump for heavy water flow or primary pump failure, and an UltraSump Battery Backup Pump to protect against a tripped circuit, power outage, or double pump failure. This system also includes a WaterWatch Alarm that will sound if the water ever rises above the point where the pumps should have turned on, a SuperLiner Sump Liner keeps the pump running the right amount to take care of the water without overworking the pump and a CleanPump Stand that raises the pumps off of the bottom of the liner to keep the pump away from the silt and sediment. Lastly, our team installed a pump discharge line with an IceGuard to protect against a frozen discharge line and a LawnScape outlet at the end of the discharge line.
