Waterproofing and Weatherizing a basement in Springfield, Vermont
Challenge
In Springfield, Vermont a homeowner was having issues in their basement. It was getting water every time it rained. Also, in the basement, there were cold drafts the customer could feel through the upstairs floor. Tired of dealing with the water and cold drafts, the owner contacted Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems for a Free Estimate.
Solution
After a Free Estimate, a solution was created to stop the water and to put an end to the cold drafts. Northern Basement Systems first installed a Full Perimeter WaterGuard System and a CleanSpace Wall System. A lot of the water entering the customers basement was coming from water seepage on the basement walls. The CleanSpace will act as a vapor barrier and will also take any seapage and put it into the WaterGuard. The WaterGuard will then direct the water to the newly installed SuperSump Pump. The SuperSump Pump is a top-rated 1/3 HP Zoeller cast iron pump offering reliability and high-volume pumping. It is capable of pumping up to 2,280 gallons per hour. The pump then takes the water out of the basement to a discharge line, away from the home. Next Northern Basement Systems sprayed closed-cell poly foam around the entire rim joist and down part of the wall. This, along with the CleanSpace Wall System, will put an end to the drafty floors and help with the overall warmth of the home.
