New Foundation Support in Corinth, VT Crawl Space
Challenge
The homeowner called Matt Clark's Northern Basement Systems with concern regarding the energy efficiency and the heavy moisture in their crawl space. They also expressed great concern about the structural security of the house foundation. They told Northern Basement Systems the floors were sagging and would bounce when they walked on it.
Solution
Matt sent out one of his System Design Specialist right away to do a FREE ESTIMATE for the homeowners. They came up with a plan to fix all of the homeowners needs. To fix the moisture and water in the crawl space Northern Basement Systems installed a CleanSpace Encapsulation System. The CleanSpace will collect any foundation seepage and direct it to the TerraBlock and Drainage Matting. The TerraBlock and Drainage Matting will then take any seepage and move it to the TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TriplSafe Sump Pump is a unique "figure eight" design allows all three submersible pumps to fit perfectly in a single sump liner. With the TripleSafe system, you don't have to worry about high pumping demands that can overwhelm or burn out single-pump systems. And if there's a power outage, your TripleSafe system will keep operating, thanks to the UltraSump battery-powered backup pump. The TripleSafe will discharge any water to the outside discharge line away from the house. To address the sagging and bouncy floors Northern Basement Systems replaced the old I-Beams with new hot dipped galvanized steal I-Beams. They supported the beams with SmartJacks. SmartJack posts are beneath the beam that supports your crawl space joists. Each SmartJack post rests on a precast concrete pad that is set on a base of compacted stone. This engineered structural system won’t settle like masonry piers can; nor will it rot or shift like a wood post. All SmartJack parts are protected against rust with a thick galvanized coating. Northern Basement System finished the job by installing spray foam around the Crawl Space rim joists. The homeowner now has a safe and secure floor. The crawl space is also now weatherized and waterproofed.
